Choosing a Name
We are aware that a lot of small businesses and service individuals do not have a registered business name or company. That stops nothing!
While we do not enforce restrictions on naming (see terms and conditions), we encourage all service providers without registered businesses to use full,
meaningful and creative names - even though your service category will be displayed on your profile. Names should be as short and descriptive as possible. This will help you engage your customers
quicker and easier.
For example:
- Avoid single names like
Name: Azikwe. Use a more complete name like: Mr Coconut Azikwe Plumbing instead. - If you are popularly known with a nickname in your area, feel free to use it. Ex: Abdullahi Voltage is fine!
Selecting Location
When joining coconut.ng, choosing your State is mandatory, however specifying your City/District is optional.
We have made this so because some services will benefit more from being available across the entire state, while others will prefer to be visible within a particular district.
For example, customers will prefer to search for Cooking Gas Delivery & Supply services within their district, so services in this category will benefit more from specifying their district.
On the other hand, it will be better for Diesel Supply Service to not be restricted to a single district as they do delivery across the entire state in some cases.
All the same, these are general examples: try to analyze the trend of your service within your location and make the best decision of whether to select District or not.
Profile Information
To provide the best experience to your potential customers looking for you on coconut.ng, we encourage service providers to complete their profile information.
Apart from the basic requirements of Name, Mobile Number and Service type service providers should try to keep other contact information up-to-date.
Nice and clear information should be included in the profile Service Description, where this is empty, we will include the general description for that service category.
Profiles should also be updated with social media links where available
